Fall/Winter 2002 Newsletter
Time truly stands still for no one. So let’s make the most of the time that we have to spend it with loved ones and friends. I hope everyone had a great summer. I certainly did. I got a chance to visit family, and best of all I spent time with my two best friends from High School. We hadn’t seen each other in over twenty years. We vowed not to let that much time go by ever again!!! For those of you who may not know it, Stanley (our Bichon) turned one year old in October. He has grown much too fast for me. He’s anxious to celebrate his first Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, there is no gift like a doll to light up the face of the recipient whether a small child or adult dolls collector. Remember when you received your favorite doll? My favorite Christmas when I was a child was the one when I received five dolls!!! Every relative that visited us that year brought me a doll. That was really exciting and my most cherished memory.

Some have started their Christmas projects at AE Doll Academy and they are really interesting. Theresa Bell-Flower Hayes is making all four of Rose Pinkul’s  “Little Bitty Sweet Things”. These dolls are only eight inches tall, have fully jointed all-porcelain bodies, and are also fully posable. Theresa is going to put them in boxes that she has decoupaged, with a change of clothing!!! I wish I were getting that gift. I always wanted a doll in a wardrobe box with at least two changes of clothes (I guess I’ll have to make my own now). Anyway if you haven’t started on your Christmas project yet there is still time. Call today to register for class so that you can get started. See you soon

What’s New at AE Doll Academy?

Sculpting Class with Philippe

At your request, I am very excited to tell you that Philippe Faraut of PCF Studios will be here in July to teach us sculpting! This is the same class that I took last August in Bernville. Philippe is well known to dollmakers nationwide, and has even taught Thelma Resch and Rachel Cold. There is a great article on Philippe in the January issue of Dollcrafter Magazine, written by Thelma Resch, and features some of his pieces. Our class dates with Philippe are July 18-20 2003

During class Philippe will teach us to sculpt a dolls head using a photograph that we bring to class. We will then make a mold of that head that can be poured and later completed. The class fee is $385.00 and includes all supplies, materials, and tools for this 3-day class. A deposit of $100 will reserve your seat. This class is always very popular so call today to reserve your seat.

New Molds

We just received the following new molds by PCF Studios, Melody as seen in Dollcrafter, Lizzy, and Aurora. We have also just added Katie by Thelma Resch, Sugar by Theresa LoBue, and Mercedes by Maria Teska. There’s still time to complete these dolls for Christmas!

Clothing Patterns

New patterns to sew for your new doll are available at AE Doll Academy. Arriving soon will be a large variety of patterns from the “Doll Emporium” Pattern Company. This company is
changing hands and I placed my order just in time to receive what was left of the old stock. If you are not familiar with these patterns they are easy to follow and fit nicely.

We will also have available a variety of patterns from Brown House Dolls, Lincoln Mold Company and Yesterday’s Children. Give us a call, if I don’t have it in stock I will be happy to place an order for you.

Books, Books, and more Books

If you were not able to attend the auction in Las Vegas of the Mildred Seeley collection, I do have the hardbound catalog published by Theriaults. We also many reference books on French and German Antiques to help you in your study of Antique dolls. New titles are added to our inventory regularly, call us for a listing of what is available.
